300CE speaker removal

I've decided to replace the head unit and speakers in my 89 300CE.

The front grilles in the dash appear to "pop off". Am I correct? Any tips?

Also, how are the rear speakers removed? The covers must come off somehow but I can't seem to figure it out and don't want to break them.

Thanks

for the front you must pry that little strip on the inside off. be very careful as you do not want to break it. start at the very tip and work your way back carefully. remove the two screws holding the grill in place, and move it out and towards you. it will come out easily. the speakers also pop out by wedging them out with a flathead screwdriver.

The rear covers can come off, but I believe the way the manual states is to remove the whole rear deck cover. you would have to remove the rear seats and headrests to do this.

I have opped mine off once, and it was not hard, I just got a flat head crewdriver underneath and pryed it off. Reinstallation is tricky though.

Be careful with it.

For the stereo, removal is easy if you follow the instructions on the diy tab of this site. for 124 stereo removal. the process should be the same for you ce to remove the stereo.
