Power Antenna does not work for 91 560 SEC

The power antenna on my '91 560 SEC does not work at all. Below the unit is a green/yellow oily mixture which I am assuming escaped from the unit. I have priced a new unit (approx. $211 Canadian). Are there any alternatives? Is there an aftermarket unit that would work well here? If there is a unit does anyone have advice on the wiring (current unit uses a four prong plug connection)?

I have great faith in this forum. My last problem was resolved in part using the advice from other members.

There is a hirschmann model # 2040 that is a universal replacement avail at car stereo shops that shouldn't be more than $80.00 US that will fit. Also harada mkes some that will work the only issue is the rubber grommet that the original one mounts with will not work with the hirschmann 2040 it comes with replacement hardware that works. If you do a replacement antenna the blue wire is 12 volt trigger wire from the radio and there will be a red wire that is constant 12 volt power. the other option is to contact becker as the do an exchange program on that antenna.

Good luck!

Hi Scott, if only you were located in MA....

I have one question regarding the universal Hirschmann antenna. Is it controllable using the dash ANT switch?
I don't wanna wire it to the radio's ANT trigger. I just wanna be able to put it up and down as I wish....

Thanks
-Holson-

Yes, as long as you get the right wire at the stock plug. There is one that is controlled by the dash switch along wiith the radio. The height limit won't work.
