The single best mod I have done to the factory speakers...
I was a at a client, who I do work for in exchange for cellular phone accessories and car stereo accessories and such.
I had discussed with him about removing the door sub capacitors and replacing them with a low midrange capacitor. Well he gave me some nice lanzar crossovers, so yesterday I rewired the system, and wired in the crossovers to the door subs, after I had removed them from the car and removed the sub caps on them. I could not stand how all the voices in music was coming from behind me out of the rear speakers. Now, I have much better sound, and most of my bass is pumped from the subwoofer which is how I like it. I can now hear much better sound out of the factory speakers, using the radio's power. Without the sub, bass is not very much, but thats perfect for my setup. My next plan is to replace the headunit with a pioneer premier 840, which plays mp3s, and get rid of my alpine unit and changer, which I will put in my brothers range rover, so he doesn't have to use that damn range rover headunit going through the ADS ampt hen to line converters to change to his amps that are actually running the speakers. That is if he wants it. Otherwise, I'll be putting the alpine in my brothers SL. I'd sell it, but its an older circa 1995-1996 alpine unit even though it still works perfectly, I'd rather put it to use. Anyway, I just thought I would share this little modification that has made my car sound much better to me. Alon
