Finally took out that crappy aftermarket alarm!!
Since the remote stopped working ont he aftermarket alarm, I wanted to take that thing outta there.
Well while messing around where the alarm brain was I figured why not just take it out. Knowing I would have to reconnect some wires, I started removal. 5 minutes later the alarm was out, and I had a couple of wires to reconnect. the right side door lock, and the starter. other than that, I needed to do no other reconnecting. Simplest way to reconnect was to jump the starter wires back together, and the door lock wires. I didn't want to start dismantling to trace the wires to where they were actually disconnected, so I used the wires that were used byt he alarm with relays and hooked them back up there. Now since the starter has wires that I can hook a switch up to, I was thinking of putting a toggle switch hidden, to turn on/off the starter just for kicks. instant theft protection. hehe But I am glad that crappy alarm is out of there. I wont be doing this, but I could... hehe factory alarm still in and working perfectly. I'm going to simply add a keyless entry system, perhaps try to retorfit in the keyless entry from a slightly newer car. Now that would be nice, but probably cost of parts would be ridiculous for the door handles, controlling computers etc required for the factory keyless entry on the slighly later models. Anyone have any reocmmendations for an aftermarket keyless entry? I would want one with as little a remote as possible, as I hate big clunky remotes. Alon

Berg Werks
I am trying to do the same thing on my 86 420SEL. So far, the only thing I've seen is a kit from bergwerks.com. On my Jeep Cherokee, I had a long range Viper alarm with remote start that I loved. That would be my preference, or something similiar, but I don't know how realistic that is with vacuum locks. I had considered replacing, somehow, the vacuum locks with motorized ones. Not sure how that would work...

I believe if you tap intot he trunk lock witht he alarm, it will work fine with the vaccum system. the trick is int he timing I think.
