w124 front dash Speakers

I have read quite a lot about the restriction in size of the front dash speaker replacement. I purchased a set of MB Quarts recently, DKD113, and decided to attempt to fit them yesterday. I was amazed to find that they fitted perfectly without any mods. I fitted them in a 260E 1990 model RHD and was wondering was this the reason.
