Hey all, does anyone know the best route for installing a decent sound system into the W123 series saloon?
I have a stock (mint 50k 1983!) W123, and wish to replace and therefore upgrade the 19 year old lW/MW Blaupunkt system that came with the car. I plan to have a CD changer, with amplifiers powering rear-deck mounted full range speakers. I also plan to replace the dash-speakers with Pioneer 4". (un-amplified) My question is: Where is the best location for these devices, and do any owners have pictures they can show me of tghe W123 audio installations to give poor old me some inspiration? Advice regarding power, and grounding locations would also be much appreciated! cheers from the UK!

Hi Joey:
Give Rick Reus a call in California at 1-800-276-8865. He specializes in aftermarket Mercedes audio solutions. Basically, he takes the area where the first aid kit is and turns it into a subwoofer system. I have it in my 190 and it makes a great improvement in sound quality! I don't know how much the system costs, though, since it was already in the car when I purchased it a year ago- but I know it will run you a few hundred bucks. Hope this helps. |
