Speaker Wire Connection Point
I'm switching out my audio system, but retaining the factory speaker for now ('92 300TE). The existing system has six speakers, two in the dash, 2 in front door and 2 in the rear doors. It's also a 2 piece unit with the radio control unit in the dash and the tuner/amplifier in the back of the wagon. Also has amp.
The front and the rear door speakers' ( - ) treminal is connnected together which I need to isolate. Does anyone know where the ( - ) wires from those speakers are connected. That's the point at which I'd like to separate the shared ( - ) wires. I've located the ( + ) leads to the speakers at the fader control. Thanks |

This is a picture of the diagram when there is just one amplifier (for the door subs) If this is your system. What I do to replace the radio is to cut into the fader control and find the rear speaker wires + and - and extend those up to the new radio and hook to rear outputs. Then I do the same with the front dash speaker wires (sometimes they can be found behind the radio already with euro speaker 2 pin connectors. The I take the wires that were plugged into the back of the stck radio and cut the plugs off and connect those 4 (2 sets) of wires in parallel with the front dash speaker wires and then to the front outputs of the new radio. This allows the stock sub amp to have signal off of the front outputs and also allows the internal fader in the new radio to operate. Good luck! If you have the two amplifier config let me know.
