Exclamation changing audio system in 92' 400SE

Hey everyone, i wanted to scrap the basic tap deck that came with the Mercedes 400SE, and get a Panasonic CQ-DF802U... however i'm worried about installation, i.e. it fitting, and it working witht he mercedes audio system... any ideas on how to install it? becuase i doubt the MB connector will work with the Panasonic connector. Thanx for any help.

It is not as easy as having the right plug, the antenna cable needs to be run forward from the trunk as the becker tuner is mounted above the gas tank on the left side. So does the audio signal as it is hooked to the tuners output. There is a need for an adapter to allow connection to the input of the bose amp (balanced line adapter) Then you should be ok!

Hey thanx for the info... so any idea what would be a logical upgrade? THe becker is getting old and it doesn't have any CD options. I want to get a new player, and have a good one too... any suggestions?

I am not too far away and I stock all the parts needed to add a cd changer to your car.

hahaha...

yes from the service records that my dad has the w140 and a tight budget were an EXTREME oxymoron. however i'm the one who's gonna drive it... anything happens, its not my wallet. HOwever on lil extra's i'm the one who has to cover the tab... so i'll see what happens... i'm being quoted 650 for the alpine stack and installation... sounds resonable, i'll see what i can do..

Nice arrangement!

Actually, thats EXACTLY how me and my father's arrangement is. I pay for gas (WOOOOOO) and any "niceities." Anyway, try using the search button, this W140 radio swap thing has been a hot topic.
