I'll try to make this as short as possible....well maybe not that short here goes.
I picked up a '79 300D which in my opinion is a great car guess this should go without saying???? Well I have a few components left from my previous system that was in my VW GTI and here what I have a dual ported semi chambered sub box with 3 JL Audio 10W6's powered by a DEI 1100D with a Stinger 1.0 farad capacitor the subs are wired in series "daisey chained" for a 1 ohm load. I have a pair of Diamond Audio HEX series 5.25 with ti tweeters these by the way sound great...I am sorry to say that my rear fill speakers MB Quart QM series 6.5" coaxles with comp crossovers were stolen and never found but I did get back my ADS P640.2 6 channel amp back the mechanic that had the car at his shop where all the damage to the VW took place said that he would replace all the stolen items all Stinger interconnects, speaker wire and the O gague power wire and battery terminal connect with Stinger 100 amp circut breaker I need a new head unit maybe Alpine, Eclipse or Premier. Well here's my question when the subs would hit in the VW the lights would dim a bit and was just wondering in I need to have the alternator rebuilt to put out around 160 or 180 amps or if it possible that the stock alternator will work? I know that either I'll have to try to build a pair of kick panels for the Diamonds or maybe have them build but that's really not an issue at this point just starting to get all my components back I had an Alpine CDA-7545 it was an older cassette unit but it still was an excellent head unit in my opinion. Guess I just wait to hear back from some of u's about this... *one last thing I noticed a post about puttng a Kicker Solo-Baric L7 in the first aid compartment which sounds kind of neat but I am wondering if it would have to have a small enclosure around the sub or if it was just a free air sub? I am not sure about what size would fit in there they make them as small as 8" as far as I know but heck JL Audio makes a 6" WO series just thought I throw that in for those that didn't know this. Thanks in advance, HogLeg ![]() |
