89' 190 - New Rear Speaker Wire Pulling

Hi,

What is the best way to re-wire new rear speakers with new speaker wire?

Can I use the existing wire as a pull wire? will it get snagged or caught?

Do I have to remove the console or carpet?

Please help

Thanks in advance,
Karl

At least in the w124s, there are 2 grommet holes behind and on each side of the rear upper seat backs. Remove the lower bench then upper seatback.

Then remove the front passenger floor mat AND the lower mat layer. There should be a way to run wires from that area in the front to just under the rear seat near where the vacuum pump is.

You can probably use a straightened out coat hanger and some tape to get the job done.

Another advantange to the 190E is that the carpet is actually laid in pieces, instead of a single formed unit, which makes routing low voltage speaker wires very easy to the headunit (I'm assuming you want to bypass the console fader) and it also makes replacing the carpet a DIY, if you fancy deep pile or shag.
