fixing sound system in 300e

arlight i am achuly fixing my moms sound system in her 92 300e, her hu back light is burnt out, dosn't really matter because i am replacing the hole unit.

I have been looking around the forums, and found out it is a 2 piece stereo. What i need to know is, if the antenna wire leads all the way to the front deck or to the rear thingy. i also need to know the color codes for the wires that lead to the front deck (power, acc, speaker wires etc).

and since i will sill want to use the same stock amps to power the speakers, how are the amps connected to the hu, are they with normal RCA's or some special connection mercedes made. a picture will be great of the back of the hu with it labled. Thanks!!!!

Matt

It's all or nothing....

Matt,

I'm no expert, (I'll leave that to the pros at La Jolla Audio) but my take is this.
You can replace a speaker, but if you take out the HU, you need to bypass the amps. My neighbor built some harness connectors to utilize the existing wiring for his 400E but the amps are pretty much of an integrated unit with the HU.
You can probably sell the the old system to someone here if you take it out carefully and don't destroy things. That should help pay for a nice 4 channel amp.

Good luck
