Anyone else try these and have comments?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned a product available at most hardware stores called "Dirtex". Being an antique furniture restorer I have found it to be a super time saver as it takes off 100 years worth of crud plus will eliminate most paint spatters. I've been using it on my cars as well. Takes off bug guts easily...

You'll love rain x if you never used it. A friend has a boat with a broken wiper motor that costs $500 to fix. I told him about rainx and the wiper motor has not been changed yet,10 years later. It polishes the glass nicely as well.

Cheers,

Bill

Your last sentence makes me wonder if the Rain-X actually fills the pits and scratches.

Some Home Depots have it and I've seen it in the grocery store as well. It's an aerosol in a blue/white/yellow can. That stuff foams after spraying lifting the junk right off. It's not cheap, maybe 4 bucks/can but you don't need much to do the job.

I'll see if my wife and I can figure out how to post pics and I'll post a pic of the can. Best stuff I've found.

Cheers,

Billl

I have had great results with "Auto Glass Stripper" made by a company named "No Touch". NAPA or Pep boys has it, $5 for a small bottle. Looks and is used like rubbing compound but it will clean stuff off glass that rubbing compound won't touch.

Warning - Do NOT use these products on the outside rear view mirrors; they are silvered on the outside of the glass and easy to destroy with any strong cleaner, especially one that's abrasive (guess how I know )

I don't think so- but try it before you start buffing them out.

And fill is not the right word--it kinda hides them.

After applying the Rainx don't forget to turn your wipers on!! you'll hardly need them even in the heaviest of downpours.

You will have to re-apply within a week or two...

Cheers,

Bill

PS---GO SOX!!! Dang them Yanks...

We don't have as much experience with rain as some of you back east!
Get the proper wiper blades their about $40-$50 for a pair and clip onto the arms better. I tried to buy Bosch blades from Autozone for $10 each but they still chatter they only way to fix it is just get the right blade.

Well it looks like it won't be houston--Cards won a little bit ago.

I put that as a P.S. so not too many yanks fans would catch it but bring 'em on.
If Yanks win I won't be watching the series. Tired of seeing them in the series.
They robbed my balto. birds a few years ago when that fan interfered and I've yet to forgive those yanks. That was the playoff series of 2000 I think?

Guess I'll be up late tonight...

Cheers,

Bill

Well lets say I for one have been using it for 30 years now and my mom even longer.

Never hurt a single window ever on any of the 14 cars and trucks I have owned in that time, nor any of my parents cars. Nor on the windows in my moms kitchen that were put in the house in 1957.

I called BonAmi today and was told they wish that they didn't have to put that warning on the product but they feel they must as it "WILL SCRATCH" your windsheild and even though the scratches may be very fine it can distort your vision and cause accidents.

Stange, none of my glass ever had the sort of scratching you describe. And yes my eyes would see it as I do most of my driving at both sun up ( eastbound in the AM) and sun down (westbound in the PM) so I frequently have the sun directly in my path of vision.

Since I have done it thousands of times. I think Once would be enough, and my moms kitchen windows are as clear as new glass even after 43 years, and 40 years of that my mom lived there.

So I find that answer very, very odd.

I would bet their liability lawyers have something to do with that.
