SEM Spray Dyes for Interior
These posts are old. Do they still sell them and are any of you still having a good experience. I have a 1996 SL500 with what I believe is light beige leather seats. They are faded in some areas and I want to redo them.
suggestions? |

I'd also point out that "old" info is not necessarily bad info, just as old technology is not necesarily bad technology. Witness the Mercedes Benz line of fine motor cars. I'd trust my nearest and dearest to any well-maintained one from any era [excluding the Chrysler years, of course], any time, as, I think, would we all....

[I'm still wodering where one gets this stuff custom mixed, as one previous poster mentioned. I'm in and out of Dallas enough that's I'd be willing to make a special stop to get the right stuff. I've got some interior bits to redo on practically everything, at least on those that don't just need new interiors![/quote]
Leatherique mixes it in all standard mercedes leather colors.

I have a 79 450SL with Bamboo Interior. I'm reupholstering seats because the leather was torn up. The rest of the interior is in pretty good shape except three things:
1 - the material on the center console (vinyl?) that goes between the seats up to the wood trim of the heater has faded horribly compared to rest of the dash and interior. I've read about the SEM vinyl dye. Is it appropriate for this piece? Can I remove that covering, or should I dye it in place? Does anyone know a good color match for it? 2. I've read some posts similiar to this next problem, but not exactly the same. The Zebrano wood panel I have that goes over my heat/air panel is solid wood and has curled. Has anyone done the wood soak/ heavy press procedure with that? 3. Finally my heat/air has a wheel for temp and the wheel has a sticker on it to display temp. My sticker is gone.....anyone know how to get replacement? This forum is awesome. I really appreciate ya'lls help....... |

Dyeing Seats-To Take Them Out or Not
Should I even try to dye my seats with the seats still in the car?
