I dropped my key between the passenger seat and the transmission tunnel in my 300E. Using a wire I tried to fish it out with the seat in various positions. After fifteen minutes I gave up and will attempt to retreive it tommorrow. It is now stuck under the seat rail. This is not the first time I have done this. Not long ago I dropped a credit card in there and it took me almost 30 minutes to remove it. What is the best way to remove objects (coins) from this area. Thanks.

I've had some luck with one of those little parts pickup tools, the kind with a plunger on one end, and four steel claws on the other end.

$1-3 depending on where you find one.

It won't take 30 minutes to pick up something with one of these

They have a good bit of grip once the jaws get around the item, so unless it's really wedged in tight you should be able to get it out.

The magnetic one might work too on a steel key, but it would probably stick to the seat rail.
