sorry but i think you will have to. i had that problem on all the benzs and only on the benz's, i think its cause the OE glass is too soft, rock chips and wiper arm marks on glass is not good.

I tried glass polishes, etc. and none worked. I ended up replacing my glass with aftermarket, I am happy with it, it looks good, stands up to rock chips better and no wiper arm mark. And parts and labor is still a hundred bucks cheaper than the OE glass itself. Goodluck...

I've heard of using Bon Ami cleanser (for sinks etc.) I bought some but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

I guess I've got a good excuse now. And I was just getting used to the scratches.

Well I tryed it last night on a small area of very fine scratches. With lots of rubbing there was a just bearly noticeable reduction in the scratches. Maybe with a buffer or polishing machine it might be practical but for now I give it a thumbs down.

thanks for trying

thanks for trying jim.

I guess we just have to live with it. It should not be an issue because unless you clean you glass everytime you drive your car you will not notice it.

Bon Ami - old type only

Don't use the new type Bon Ami (Calcium carbonate). Use only the old style (Feldspar). And try it first on a corner. And don't expect it to work on deep scratches.

Re: Scratch Windshield

This procedure isn't for anyone who's impatient. It has worked for me is polishing out scratches on glass doors (don't ask) as well as on watch faces. Ok, I'm obsessive.

You need a Dremel tool and jeweler's rouge - available at hardware stores in various grits. Depending on the depth and severity of the scratch start with the coarsest grit, as you would with sandpaper.

Use the Dremel with the polishing wheel and polish away, back and forth over the area, but not in any one spot. Back and forth, back and forth, grasshopper. Your wrists will grow tired.

Eventually you will see progress. Finally, it will work - as long as the scratch isn't all the way to the plastic.

Bob
