What would happen if i used simple green?

Hey Guys, What wold happen if i used simple green the all natural cleaner to remove the gunk and whatnots off of the car, then give it a wash.. Do you recommend that instead of using the clay bar? I would like to make my car look spic and span!

You use either one for different reasons.

Clay bar is to remove contaminants embedded IN the paint. This is a very gradual but gentle approach to removing particles that got stuck on the paint surface.

Simple Green is a degreaser that is best used for removing oily and greasy stains. I use SG on the underchassis, wheel wells and engine bay, sometimes on the wheels if brake dust is significant.

If you accidentally get Simple Green on the paint and have streaks of white marks, use paint cleaner to even out the color.

Simple Green is a degreaser and shouldn't be used on paint... it leaves white streaks like MBeige said.

If you want to strip your painted surfaces of all wax, grease and oils give Palmolive dish soap a try.

If you need to remove tar try finger nail polish remover (Naptha?) and a Q-tip. Just take your time and work one small spot at a time.

Than if you still find a spot or two of dirt/hase you can't live with give Mothers clay bar a try, its not as agressive as some you can buy at a paint supply store, but safe enough for someone who has never done it before.

Follow that with a good glaze, polish and than wax!

Just my .02 cents worth, your millage may vary

you polish before a glaze

wash, clay, polish, seal, glaze, wax, quick detailer.
