MB Tex

I have a 190 series MB with the MB Tex upholstery in it. I was wanting to know if anyone could advise on the kind of conditioner, that is compatible with it? It's not showing any defects yet or anything, but would like to maybe do so preventative measures.

Keeping it clean is the key. Don't use harsh chemical cleaners. I use plain old hand cleaner (Go-Jo, Stalube, etc.) on a cotton towel for cleaning. Smear it on, let set for a minute or so and then wipe it dry. Top coat it with Aerospace 303 (I get it from RV/ boat supply stores). Clean and apply the treatments in the shade.

MBTex will last forever it seems.

Don't use the scented or grit versions of the cleaner. The citrus oils tend to lighten streaks in the fabric.

Rebe,

I too have a 190 with the MB Tex, mine is grey. There are 2 things I have used to clean the grime off. I have used a basic citrus based spray cleaner and a brush. I have also used Vinylex. Though it is a protectant, I have found that with the use of a soft to medium bristle brush, you get get into the texture of the MB tex. I discovered Vinylex's cleaning capability by accident. I have used it for years on my tires. When I spray it on the tires, I can see the brown dirt/dust/whatever coming off. I let it sit on the tires for about 10 minutes and come back with a rag to wipe off any excess. It leaves a very nice sheen. The same holds true for the MB Tex. I haven't tried the aforementioned 303, but I know that alot of the Porsche guys use it.

I read some posts, and decided to go with Meguiar's Professional Vinyl & Rubber cleaner/conditioner. It did a remarkable job I think. I like the way it looks now, and is very soft and supple. I am really fond of the M-B Tex. It is so durable. I like leather, but it doesn't fair, as well as, the tex does in my opinion. The only couple of places, that I had a blip was on the arm rest & driver pilar. I had it redone a couple of weeks ago with tex. The other spot was by the seat belt. I don't know if the metal part made the lacerations or not? It was like that when I purchased the car, so I decided I wanted to get the places fixed. I have the blue interior which I like, and it has no cracks in the dash or anyplace else.

I bought some "Official" Mercedes-Benz interior treatment at a dealer and I really like it. I learned it is made by Mequire's so when I use my bottle up that is what I am going to get and recommend. It really makes the vinyl look newish and nice. I like the way it applies and lasts much better than anything else I have tried. My car is a 1986 420 SEL with the navy interior.
