Angry How to read the car colour code?

I cannot understand how to read the car's details on the plate sitting on the top of the panel in front of the radiator. Which is the car's duco number code and the side moulding colour code? What are the normal German codes for 1994 C class models Euro version?. Been trying to get the code for touch up painting job on my car. One shop gave me the wrong colour and I had to pay for it . Either he was wrong or the used car had a colour change before.

Here's mine

I found my colour code on my badge under the hood (as you mentioned)! Mine colour is Garnet and the code is 512. I can only assume that they're all 3 digets, but who knows!? My colour code was also in my books, all the way in the back. Call M.B. and ask to get a copy of your window sticker (assuming you don't have one). That might have the colour code. Of course you might just want to call your local dealership too, to try to find a 1994 colour chart on Ebay.

Hope one of these ideas help...but I'd be willing to bet that you've already read your colour, you just haven't realized it yet!

Good luck!

Color codes

Here's a pretty good list of color codes:
http://www.autoshoppingcenter.com/BurlingameMotors/colorcode.html

Also:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm

On my metal plate above the radiator, my color code is in the lower left corner, eg, my plate says "01 040 F". My color is 040 black. the 01 might be the first paint in a 2 color car, the F probably is the code for the company that manufactures the paint. I saw a list once, but can't lay my hands on it now.

Hope this helps.

Unhappy Finding the colour code

The code on my car plate is 888 and this is called Beryll. Using this code, the paint shop gave me a very dark blue/green tint which looked almost like the side moulding colour instead of the lighter bluish/green of the body colour. What can I do? Does this mean that the body should be the dark blue/green as well as the side moulding? None of the other numeric codes on the plate matches any of the other colour codes given in the post I referred to. Please help! I am about to have the front and bumper resprayed in a week's time. The code layout on the plate is:-

0108530 7
202018 22
12
405 414 866
134139 420 955
586
8 888 625
341

Vehicle Data Card

What does your Vehicle Data Card show? The VDC should be a computer printout-type looking thing that is pasted to the last page of your Maintenance coupon booklet. This should show your car, engine, and transmission serial numbers, as well as all of your 3-letter option codes. In addition, items 30 and 31 should be your interior and exterior color codes.

If you don't have a VDC, your dealer should be able to run your car's information from their computer. I'll bet it comes up with 888, too.

If the VDC also shows that 888 is your exterior color, I'd say there must have been a color change, and you'll have to get the paint matched by a professional that can do it. Hope this helps.

On my w124, the color code (702, smoke silver) is the last 3 digit number at the bottom of the plate. The last number on yours is 341, Aquamarine blue. Have the paint shop show you that number color code and compare it to your car. Hope this helps.

Ah, yes John, I'll think you're right. I failed to note the 341 there and I'll bet 341 is on Hocky's Vehicle Data Card.

Go to www.paintscratch.com. You put in the make, year and model of your car and they'll come up with a list of paint codes correlated with the colors. You should be able to see your color and then it's quite easy to find that code on your plate.l
