Source for "touch up paint"...

Would like some touch-up paint in the old "Maple Yellow" shade for my '81 240...and would like maybe a small can of it rather than the "tiny bottle".

Any suggestions as to a source?

Try these guys. I have never ordered from them but someone posted this link some time ago.

http://www.paintscratch.com/

Let me know how it works out for you and where you end up getting your paint. I have the same color 79 240D and will need some touch up paint soon. I am waiting for my trunk lid seal to arrive so I can replace the old and clean up the spot of rust I have in the trunk seal area.

I checked paintscratch's prices for my 300D and it was $14.95 for a paint pen but $291 for a gallon of smoke silver metallic and $60 for a gallon of clear coat. I haven't bought automotive paint in over 10 years but I can't believe that the price has gone up that much.

I'm pretty sure PaintScratch sells aerosol cans for about $30. I've been very happy with their tiny bottles of paint. Perfect match.

All depends on what brand of paint you are using. You can get dupont base coat for under 150 per gallon. I have used Limco base with very good results it runs about 60 dollars per gallon even though an inexpensive paint I like the way Limco lays down, a friends truck I painted with it still looks good after four years. If you want show quality paint then you need the high priced spread

Any auto body shop supply house can match your MB paint code number. Some colors tend to fade more than others making touch up harder.Base clear is very hard to blend on a small touch up usally whole panel such as whole door needs to be painted.......

I would recommend NMB PAINT PRODUCTS for touch up paint. I was pleased by their service, knowledge..... and their prices were unbeatable!

$6.98 for 1 ounce bottle w/ brush in cap. One ounce will cover a LOT of dings!

$12.98 for12 oz spray can. $15.98 for 16 oz spray can.

The one ounce bottle I bought matched my 27 year old Medium Red paint job very nicely!

_________

Fellas: I found this gem by searching on Google---and NOT just going to the first listing! This business was on about the tenth page of Google listings for "Touchup paint". I have found many other GOOD DEALS by hunting around the bottom of the Google rankings----that's where the low prices are. I've done business with that one--and had a good experience, but you *must* have part numbers.

I tried PaintScratch recently for my Volvo wagon. The paint was not a perfect match. When I complained to the co., they said the paint on the car was faded.

If you do try them, I'd recommend that you send them a small paint sample to match to. The fuel door might be a good choice.
Of course you should insure it. Matching costs an extra $25, but worth it for an older car.

I'm planning on repainting the front clip myself of my 300D this summer if all goes well. The clear coat is shot on the hood and tops of the front fenders. I've read somewhere that cars painted in smoke silver met were notorius for clear coat problems. I do plan on taking the filler door off and having the paint matched to it.
