Wow, I just saw this post. I don't know your name 'WHUNTER', but thanks for the try. If I pull the injectors and don't find anything obvious I will need to just find somewhere to take it in the DFW area. The efforts I have already recieved on this problem, as well as others that I have had, is humbling, and the effort will never go unappreciated by me. The biggest problem is my learning curve, which is on the rise, but still near the start.
However, screw the Mercedes, I have bigger problems. My coffee pot died tonight. I'm going to have to percolate in the morning! THAT is a true emergency!

Ya know, when I first got my 240D it smoked and nailed like crazy. Have you tried running a can of Diesel Purge thru the injectors according to the directions(not just dumping in the tank). When I ran a can thru my motor it stopped nailing and smoking but when I returned very thing back to normal fuel it was back to it's old tricks(nailing and smoking). Long story short, my injectors, more than 1, were bad.

Replaced the injectors and it was like a brand new motor. No more fogging on start up, nailing gone, and loads more power.

Just a thought!

I repeat, you have a "crapped-up" injector. Replace the fuel and do the "purge" or PowerService thing BEFORE pulling anything off of the car

From the other thread:
First, I would completely drain the fuel tank and put in 5 gal of diesel from a reliable source. Dump in some Power Service and then go drive the snot out of that wagon. Lots of 0-60 maximum performance accelerations, long hills at WOT...if it's not any better after that, I'd be looking for a diesel injection shop to do a pop test on those injectors.

What does that smoke smell like? If it's Pepe' Le Pu, you're burning oil and you either have a broken ring, bad valve guide or a cracked piston. If it's a diesel spilled on the ground smell, you have a bad injector.

Still needs help.

The issue is the same or worse.
Is there anyone near his location?
I know there are some Texas people on the diesel forum, just can't recall who they are.
Must be coming down with mental pause. LOL
