Long trip, now runs hot

this summer we took two long trips in the Sierra, about 2k mi total, with several long climbs where the temp climbed up almost to the 120 mark; but once we got over the passes, the temp would sink back down.

Now that I am hone, the car runs around 90, and it used to run at just over the 80 degree mark beofe the trip.

What gives? Other than a coolant flush and thermostat check, is there any maintainence that I should condsider?
