Hello From New Owner

Hello to all on the fourm. After reading the fourm and searching I finally found and bought a 1983 300D from a fourm member. Flew out last weekend to St. Louis and drove it back to NM. What great cars they are, 70-75mph with 29-30mpg, it ran great.

Only problem on road was broken windshield west of Amarillo TX. Passing SUV kicked up a stone. Made me SICK.

Anyway, sure I will have many questions in the future, want to keep it in top shape.

Andy

If that's the worst thing you got west of Amarillo, then you did good.....having lived there for 4 years, well, there are clearly a lot worse things to run into out I40.

Welcome to the board and welcome to diesel ownership!!

I hope you already engaged a policy with an insurance company before you drove off in it, if so you can claim for a new windshield. I always love it when a truck throws a stone or it drops off the back of the bed or something, write down the license # then contact my insurance co. It hasn't happened lately though. I need a new windshield for my '83 300D, I love that car, its the one got me started with MB diesels.
Oh yes, welcome to the group!

Hello back to you and welcome to the wonderful world of Mercedes. Like you, I am relatively new (just over one year) and have found both this forum and my '87 300TD great morale builders. Been a long time since owning a vehicle this much fun to work on. Best of luck with your new purchase.
