What is this part leaking oil ?
Hey.
I noticed a little oil on this part. The oil is basically on the bottom of it on the little tube and on the side hose as well. Not sure what this part is or does and I'm not sure why it is leaking oil. It's nothing major, maybe it's buildup from many years. Your expertise would be greately appreciated. Here are two pics....

That's the oil separator, it removes most of the oil from the blowby and returns it to the crankcase. Probably the o-ring in the side tube (from the valve cover) is old and shrunk.

Kamil,
I'm glad U posted that picture of the oil separator. I never knew what one looked like because my cars (190D thru 300 SDL) don't seem to have one. Probably easier to replace the o-rings than change psfred's mind on Bush. LOL P E H |

Probably only a dealer parts department or a good independed mechanic will know what they are, they don't need to be replaced very often.
The oil separator on the 60x engines is in the valve cover, not the air filter housing or separate. Nice little curved tube for the oil return so it won't blow back. Takes up quite a bit of the space in the valve cover, the camshaft is centered on the head/valvecover line. I will refrain from making political comments. Peter

The o-rings used for the oil separator tubes are the same ones used for the dipstick. You can order them on Fastlane. It's also worth mentioning that when you search for "breather hose", you get two results... one with a picture, one without. I don't think they're the same part. I ordered the one with no picture, and it turned out to be the connector for the oil separator end of the hose. I'm pretty sure the one with the picture (Meyle brand) is the one that sits on top of the valve cover. Hopefully this saves someone from ordering the wrong part!

oil Seperator Seal Ring
You will need 2 oil seperator seal rings PART # 006-997-26-45 , its number 74 in the pic. Also the hose that runs from the seperator to the intake manifold is probably cracked in a few places, at least mine was. The Part # for the hose is 616-016-03-81.......
