Where does the "sway bar link" go

I bought two new sway bar links, but I can't find the old ones on the car. Do the original ones look different?

The old ones were probably metal (they were on my daughter's 240D too).

Sometimes it is difficult to see them unless you pull the rear wheels. Then they are right in front of you. Of course, you cannot see the threaded portions of the sway bar link when it is installed.

If I follow the sway bar I should be aible to find them (?), it looks like they are out of metal on mine.

Those are rear swaybar links. Either the ones on your car aren't white or aren't white anymore.

Do new rear sway-bar links really make a difference, they seem to be quit soft?

We will find out tomorrow.

Rear SB links can make quite a racket when they deteriote. Rare case of expensive noises from what are perhaps the cheapest parts on the entire car. Front SB links are a different story, on the 126 cars at least.

Car should track better on the highway when they are replaced. Takes 5 minutes per side.

When I first bought my car and was "green" the rear clanked like hell everytime I hit a bump. I replaced all the donuts on the exhaust and installed 2 new shocks before realizing that the links were bad.

17mm wrench

On a 123 (like your CD), you'll need a 17mm open-end wrench. It's very straightforward, once you have the wheel off. Spray a little liquid wrench or the like on the nuts first to help out.
