Wow I really would like a W116! That looks like a real nice example, from what I can tell it must have been kept under cover. The wood and dash are too nice for it not to have been. The front drivers side door seal is shot though, but it is an old car. It looks like a clean example with no rust on it since it is a CA car. I am guessing someone snags it for just south of $2k.

Overheating issue is probably something stupid, but even if the engine is shot body work isn't cheap engines are.

The only down side is it sounds like someone has owned it for the last two years that doesn't have the money or knowledge to keep it running right. He does seem to know a lot about them though.

I've never seen a 116 in that color. Looks really nice.

AC needs recharging? Park-n-sell license plate frame?

No A/C = busted servo? May be a couple of creases on the body, tough to be sure w/ digital pics. Further proof that the last owner just didn't care are the broken out fog lights. Those things really don't cost much to replace. Still, rust free examples are so rare, I'd be very interested if it were local.
