				Cylinder Head

Well my cylinder head has started leaking a little water out of the back left corner. Not much but I have had to add about 1/2 gallon of coolant in the last 2 weeks. A mechanic friend and myself removed the head today and I am undecided whether to just install a new head gasket or have the head gone over at a shop. Car has 268,000 miles and I had just had Mercedes install new valve seals. I had them do it because they have the special tool where it can be done without removing the head. Should have waited a few weeks I guess. Anyway, head looks straight but since it is off, would it be prudent to have a head job done? Or put it back on with new gaskets?

603.971 268,000 miles It was an external leak. Car was running fine. Engine health - Using 1 quart of oil every 1000-1500 miles. Closer to 1500 miles. Compression good and within specs.
