Euro trailer hitch

Anybody have any idea where one can get a trailer hitch -- just a bumper hitch would work -- for my 84 240D Euro? The bumpers are different, no hitch place around here can get anything, and parts stores no longer sell ANY kind of bumper hitch (used to offer 2 or 3 styles). I'd be happy to get a used one. I just need to pull my little fishing boat & occasionally a utility trailer. At the moment I can't go fishing ...

Most of the hitches I've seen are a bit of DIY'er. While your bumpers are different, the attachement to the frame is the same as domestic. EUro's have one nut/stud while domestics have three. You'd be best to attach a solid bar to these and the hitch to the center.... any welding shop can take the measurements and fabricate one in short order.

I second the above post. I fabricated one for my 300E and I have used it to pull a 14 foot boat and our pop-up camper.

There was a fellow on here from Arkansas about 3 or 4 months ago with one for sale. Sorry, I don't remember his name. I inquired about buying it, but didn't follow up on it. I'm sure it could be found with some searching. If nothing else, search by my username for a thread involving euro trailer hitch a few months back.

Edit: Here's the link:

Hmmmm...

I need a hitch, but that's too much. So I reviewed the spec to see how difficult it would be to fabricate the hitch. I don't think these guys have on that will work for the wagon. It seems that this hitch is made for the sedan, and the site probably doesn't realize the difference.

Ed,
I'm the guy with the euro hitch. It was on a 240D and at the time I didn't know it would not fit a US 300TD. It is still laying in my shop, for sale, if you are interested. Call me at 501-952-8754 and we will take.

If it's a MB standard Euro hitch, you can buy a replacement from MB directly (pricey, but available).
