1979 300SD Turbo – what’s it worth?
Very good paint, very good chrome, no rust, southern car. Interior looks good, no tears or cracks, backseat has good covers, but has lost it’s padding. 150K miles. Very good Michelins all around. Everything seems to be working. Going for a test drive this weekend. I think it’s a 2 owner, with some records, incomplete. Any $ value or trouble judgments you might offer?
Thanks, cg |

Sounds like 2-2,500 from your description IMO. Rust is the operative word with a W116. Check it very carefully- I had to "import"one from California- and I live in Florida. Check the window rubbers and, if bad, check the floors below for holes. Check the anti-roll bar mounts along the firewall and the arms that extend into the wheelwells. Early climate control is problematic and expensive. This OM617 model in very good condition seems to be somewhat rare compared with the W126 or W123 chassis.
