Trans Questions and stuff

Hi
I am new to this list . I need some input : I have a 1985 309D Camper

The trans ( auto) shifts but at a very low ground speed ( no Tach) I seem to be in fourth by 25 mph -or less! And since it is a big thing (ten feet tall!) the poor engine is not making HP at 25mph!

I can manualy shift - 1st seems to be a sometimes thing and it flares slightly 2-3 but 3-4 is fine.

I figure that it must have a electric kick down ( right name?) there is a swich under the pedal . It does not work.

this Van has a 617 NA . it seem to run fine since i drove it back to CA from Ill

Ran and idled very rough at the start but mix a can of techron and the Rockys and presto things dont fall off the dash .

Next question ;

I found a 220 1969 with a 300td and five speed with a air /water intercooler
In northern CA ( Sonoma) I was wondering if someone on the list knows it's history? The instilation looks pretty good except for the shifter mechansim that seems to be cobbled up. It works though. Lots of wierd things under the hood Time will tell what they are. I bought it for the engine I will see if it fits in the van ( thoes 40+- horses would realy help)

The Car looks like it has had seen better days . Lots of them.

Thanks

Chuck
