Glow plug change - intake manifold
With the cool weather coming and a pending trip to PA in December, I decided to replace the two bad glow plugs I have had for a while. It hasn't been a big issue because it is so hot down here in Florida.
Well, in the shop manual under glow plug removal, it doesn't say anything about removing the intake manifold. It just says you need a 3/8" universal joint. I am not sure how anyone would be able to remove the glowplugs with the intake manifold still attached, except maybe the couple in the front. I ended up having to remove the fuel injection lines as well as couple of other tidbits to get the intake manifold off so I think I will go ahead and replace all of the glow plugs while I'm in here so I don't have to worry about them for a while.
While I have the intake manifold off, I decided to clean all of the carbon and tar buildup out of it and will also disable my EGR valve. I used a can of air intake cleaner and it seemed to work pretty well.
Now I just need to pick up four more glowplugs, an intake manifold gasket, the crossover pipe gasket, and some of those fuel line clips before I can put everything back together.
If anyone can think of anything else I should do while I'm in here, I would appreciate it.
