Talking Someone offered to buy my car tonight

I was cruising my local car lots tonight, and I drive onto the lot, and one of the car salesmen walks up to me and asked if I would sell my car to him, I was surprised by this . And to think, I just took my FOR SALE signs off earlier today . I told him I would think about it because I really can't sell it at this time...

In a former life, I was a car salesman. I'd be a bit suspicious about the one who wants to buy your car. It may simply be a technique to sell you another vehicle. Its also possible that you were dealing with a sincere, honest individual who appreciates your car and wants to buy it.
How do you know when a cars salesman is lying?..........His lips are moving.

My neighbors have been asking me for the last six months when I am going to sell my SDL to them. I should have taken them up on it before I had to replace the head, but that wouldn't have been cool. After the new head experience, I told them they can't afford what they would have to pay.

After I drive 100 miles today to wrecking yard to pick up a power steering pump for the Subaru, I might just give the guy a call. Maybe he will take the car off my hands, then that would free up the funds so I can buy a nice 240D

Buy a lottery ticket youd have a better chance of winning than him buying your car.

123c,

If he offers you a cash deal where you don't have to buy anything from, how can you lose. Make sure you get a signed contract and get a big down payment with no refund if he cancels. The down payment will show if he is sincere.

I decided last night...

...that if someone asked me, the answer would be yes. Yes I would sell them my 240D, for $10,000 (maybe as far down as $8k =). I dont wish to be offensive to them, but $10k if how much I care about my car. =)

Should I post that up in the FS forum ? =)

(and yes, I fully realize that my 240D is not worth that much on the open market)

All my cars have prices set on them in case someone stops and asks.

1981 240D - $2500
1982 300D - $4000
1987 300D - $6000
1984 300SD - $5500

Please PM if you want any of these at those prices. Please understand that these are not perfect cars no matter what the price represents.
