300SDLTOM,
Both my 300SDs use practically no oil in 3000 miles. The one 300SD used to use about a quart in 3000 miles but switching to Castrol Syntec decreased the oil consumption to about 1 qt in 10,000 miles. EDIT: I should note that this miraculous decrease in oil consumption did not happen overnight. It took ~30,000 miles to "clean out the engine". When I used non-synthetic, I'd have to add about a quarter to a half quart between every oil change, now that I've switched to Amsoil synthetic (past three oil changes), I haven't had to add any at all.

No oil added in between oil changes on the 300D 2.5. Until I switched to synthetic I was adding about 1/2 liter every 3000km. Since I switched I haven't had to add any.

I've only driven the SDL ~25,000 miles and the oil is still at the full mark on the dipstick. P E H
