Good Idea

I was pondering this myself...why rob peter to pay paul and destroy a 240D when you can just transplant your 300D engine into a 240D!

Question

I asked a Large MB shop in Miami this same question a few months back and he claims to have done this upgrade many times without much of a problem. I would like to see the longer term results myself say how is it functioning after 20000 miles.

Do a search on this site. It is pretty straightforward. You do have to use the manual tranny cars flywheel if I remember correctly.

Which adapter plate would I have to use if the 300D turbo is a 1984 and the 240D is from 1983.

I wonder if the driveshaft will have to be changed.

No adapter plate, but you WILL have to use bolts to hold it in!

No reason to wonder about the driveshaft. You WILL have to modify it. 58cm.
