Exclamation Engine Races slightly when idling then drops down???????

[B]Engine Races when idling then drops down??????? Engine races slightly when idling then drops down?????? Any feedback as to the why's that my car, when idling, tends to slightly race, i.e. go from 750rpm to approx 820 then down again????

It does in summer and now winter, only difference is that it usually goes away after I drive it a while in summer (heats up), but seem to stay a bit longer in winter.......

OK, I'll be the smarta$$

Methinks you are off by a factor of 10 on your RPM. If your diesel is truly turning that speed, you've got an awfully special machine there....

Can't shed any light on why it happens, however.

Rgds,
Chris W.

You meant 750 and 820, right?

Yes, when idling, those would be the correct rpm #'s.

Try asjusting the idle adjustment screw, if that doesnt work, I would try the rack dampener..
