I'm in Colorado and looking too. Looks like we'll be competeing . Too bad I didn't see your posts before. There were a couple of really nice D's (alot cheaper than that $7500 joke that guy is trying to sell you) I've passed on becuase I really want an SD, SDL, or newer D.

It's going to be (and has been) a long, arduous journey.

No telling how long he had it for sale, nor how quickly he wants to dispose of it. Sometimes people are really proud of their possessions, but when reality strikes, give in. Another thing might be that he doesn't want everyone and their brother test riding his baby.
Only if he can justify paying triple what that car is worth. Like I said, private party is about $1300 in that area providing the condition is Excellent as per KBB. Personally, the guy is trying to sell it for what HE thinks it is worth and not what the market will bear.

I really don't think KBB provides an good indicator of how much these cars are worth. They have a "cult" following, some people want them to do the bio-diesel thing, it can't take factors like records vs. non-records into account, previous owners conviction to maintence, etc. I've found KBB, NADA, Edmunds, all to be worthless in my search for a car. They routinely sell for far more than the "book value." Just watch ebay. I only think it works for cars that are maybe 10 years old at most.

MerFan, there's an SD about 10 miles from my house that I looked at. Maybe you've seen it in the paper. 1982 with 150,000 miles or something for $2200. I've checked it out and driven it. Shoot me an email if you want to know about it.

1982 300sd

I bought my 1982 300sd and paid $3400. It had new Michelin MXV4 tires and was a one owner car. $7500 sounds totally outrageous! I have seen mid 1990's E class 300 Diesels for $12,000 in our local paper. No way would I spend that much on that car.
