Drip Tube
New to the Shop
I was wondering if you could give me a bit of an overview on how to time a diesel. I have done the search and didnt really come up with anything. i searched the internet and all I find are timeing chain parts. All I could come up with was something about a drip tube and for he life of me cant figure out how something dripping can time the motor. Thanks and I was so happy to find you all here. I have just got my 300SD, without a divorce I might add, although it was suggested. My 300 is in rough shape but I look forward to a lobor of love. Thanks |

Ken,
When the drips stop coming from the drip tube, you know the IP is at an exact spot which then can be used to time the engine. Even thought you set the drips to stop at something like 24*, that is not the timing of the injection. It is just a reference point. P E H |
