1997 E 300 diesel questions?

Looking at a 300E diesel with 92k miles. Does this 6 cylinder have a cat converter and a trap oxidizer?
Is the car riddled with electrical problems like the 300e I just sold? OVP,ETA, wiring harness etc.

Any satisfied owners of such a car?

Are this cars turbo models or NA.

It has an oxidation catalyst. The 1997 is a non-turbo - 1998 & 1999 models are turbocharged. No, it doesn't have the same electrical gremlins as a W124, although the W210 can have some issues of its own. And yes, there are a number of satisfied W210 diesel owners here.

Do a search and you will find a lot of info on the 210 chassis. I was very satisfied with my '97 though they do have their issues just like any other car.

E300 Varia

I recently bought a 1999 E300 Turbodiesel after having tried out a 1996 E300. The difference between the two is striking, to be sure. My new used car (108k miles) seems to have certain issues to resolve (tired shocks, leaking diesel, sagging motor mounts), but it is very powerful. The suspension does not seem to be rusting off, thank God. I do miss the Panzerkampfwagen/Lastkraftwagen ambience and durability of my former 1979 240D, however. Many thanks to colleagues here for the useful information on these cars.

w210 diesel

I have a 97 non-T diesel . The only issue I had to fix with this car is the surging due to clogged EGR. I "fixed" it. Now, smoother than ever. 34mpg @80mph. 78k miles. You will enjoy this car whether it's Turbo or non-turbo.

On the electrical side, the powerseat controls sometimes gets possesed by somesort of witchcraft. I push it backwards, the seats go forward
I usually just pu**** all the way forward and that seems to "reset" the problem and it goes back to it's natural state. Other than that, my wife loves it. If momma's happy, everyone's happy.

Happy motoring
