Paypal Warning!!

Jeez it's going to be hard to keep the cuss words out of this...
I just received a lovely email from Paypal telling me that the 280SE Coupe bumper I sold to a guy in FL last month (for $250) was paid for w/ fraudulent funds... Bummer. The guy seemed a little shady, but he was a Verified Paypal Member and I shipped the bumper to his Confirmed Address in FL. Hell, I even talked to him on the phone. Well, at least that's what I pay those totally exorbitant fees to Paypal for, right? WRONG. They found the loophole. I shipped it 8 days after he paid for it (my Grandma was in the hospital), and in order to qualify for Seller Protection you have to ship w/in 7 days of payment. The one #&%@-ing time I ship out an item in more than three or four days, I get blasted for $250. I'm fighting this all the way to wall w/ Paypal and if that doesn't work, I'm going to FL to get my bumper back. One way or another.

...

Sorry all...just needed to vent... And drop a friendly reminder that we all need to constantly cover our a$$es in this lovely world and to trust no one. Especially anything corporate.

Cheers,
-Matt-

Matt:

I'm, in addition to being a diesel nut, a trial lawyer. If you'll send me the information, I'll be glad to send a nasty letter to the prick. No charge, be glad to help another benz fanatic..

Just don't tell anyone I did anything nice, I've got a reputation to keep up!

Roger

My thoughts exactly Brian! I don't how this could've happened! Please, somebody tell us how??? And would it not be the fault of paypal? What the heck does paypal do for their fee? What a joke they are for not standing behind you! Let us know how this turns out.

Cheers,
Bill

Bill, in thinking about it a bit more, if the credit card gets denied, Paypal would know it within minutes. They could then advise the seller of the goods that payment was refused.

The same thing applies to the linked bank account. When completed electronically, Paypal should know the funds are good almost instantly.

I just don't understand how they can come back several days later and claim the payment was made with "fraudlent funds".

Be careful with Paypal. When it comes down to it they offer no protection. Never take payments in more than 1 installment. If you are doing transactions check your account regularly and keep records of emails. I got burned but I still use the service.
