'83 SD FS in Upstate SC...$1000

I found an '83 SD for sale in town a few days ago and thought I would let you guys know. I would take it for myself but I have somehow managed to gather up a few VW Rabbit diesels here lately and don't have the extra cash for another MB project.

The car runs and shifts exceptionally well IMO. It has 240,000 miles showing on the odometer and the odometer WAS working when I test drove it. It is a nice looking car. It is black on black. The windows are tinted black. It has the chrome fender trim and later model wheels, '86 up. The A/C is not working. I did not have time to diagnose the A/C problem but I believe that it may be in the Climate Control Unit. The blower does not operate and the compressor does not engage.

The sunroof works and this car has HEATED SEATS! Speaking of seats, both front and rear seats are in need of covering. Some of the covering has already been replaced with imitation stuff. The dash has cracks in it but with a little TLC the interior could be made nice. The wood is typical of most I have seen of this age and wear.

The car has EUROPEAN HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES.........BOSCH from what I saw! The headlights have the wipers on them but I don't think that they work.

This car starts immediately and runs great! The low pressure hose on the power steering pump has been leaking and there is power steering fluid ALL OVER the engine bay. I did verify that the hose is where this is coming from. The power steering pump is almost void of fluid. The clamp on the hose will not tighten any more to seal off the connection and you can see a little bubble every now and then since the fluid is almost completely gone.

The dealer that has the car started off at $1500 and said that he wanted to move some cars ( don't they all?) so he went to $1200 and I pointed out the flaws the car has and he went down to $1000. I don't think he would take less but you never can tell. I am in no way connected to or will benefit from the sale of this car. I just try to share with you fine folks here that enjoy these cars as much as I do.

You may PM me and I will PM you back with contact information. If you are in the local area and would like directions to the dealer then I will do my best to direct you there.

Kevin
