Testing SLS Pump?
The rear end on my wagon seems WAY too low, even when running. I'm kinda thinking that the pump might be bad. I've got the fluid topped off, so that's not it. There's some spring in the rear end still & it doesn't drive bad by any means, but I think it should be much higher. Should I try to test the pump? Is there a way to do it? Or should I just put the one from my Euro 240D that has SLS on there & be done with it? I'm sure that one works, but the engine is shot now.
Thanks! Mike |
Well, I swapped pumps & there's no real difference. Guess it must be the valve. I'll have to rebuild that, the one on the 240D is shot too. Oh well.

My knowledge is really "limited" with this SLS but I can tell you how I tested my pump...I opened the top (the filter) and it let me know real fast, it was pumping  :D I would think those pumps would outlast everything in the system, maybe not, is a rebuild kit available? |

Search for the threads that give much better info than myself, and good luck. :sun_smile |
Well, looks like the valve is shot after all. I moved the lever up & down & it didn't do anything while it was running. I'll find that part number I saw earlier & see about ordering it.
I did search for testing the pump & didn't find anything before I posted this. Thanks for the response though. Mike |
Just called the "stealer" for the "washer kit" & they want $85 now!! Ouch! I think I'll try Phil, maybe he can do better.

I think you may be making "pump testing" too complicated, just pull the filter while the engine is running, if fluid is returning, its pumping ;) Please keep us posted on the results of the valve overhaul |
