Testing SLS Pump?

The rear end on my wagon seems WAY too low, even when running. I'm kinda thinking that the pump might be bad. I've got the fluid topped off, so that's not it. There's some spring in the rear end still & it doesn't drive bad by any means, but I think it should be much higher. Should I try to test the pump? Is there a way to do it? Or should I just put the one from my Euro 240D that has SLS on there & be done with it? I'm sure that one works, but the engine is shot now.

Thanks!

Mike

Well, I swapped pumps & there's no real difference. Guess it must be the valve. I'll have to rebuild that, the one on the 240D is shot too. Oh well.

My knowledge is really "limited" with this SLS but I can tell you how I tested my pump...I opened the top (the filter) and it let me know real fast, it was pumping I would think those pumps would outlast everything in the system, maybe not, is a rebuild kit available?

First of all, many many threads on SLS. That being said, have you attempted to adjust the linkage from the valve assy.? WARNING: Make sure you have the back end up on ramps, so that there is room for the rear suspension to bottom out without rather severe damage to your brain pan. You adjust ride height with that linkage, assuming everything else is working. Shorten linkage to raise rearend, by the way. Also make sure that the plastic links behind the rear hubs are not broken or off of there lever ball. Those help to give a fixed reference point via a sway bar-type thing to the valve assy.
Search for the threads that give much better info than myself, and good luck.

Well, looks like the valve is shot after all. I moved the lever up & down & it didn't do anything while it was running. I'll find that part number I saw earlier & see about ordering it.
I did search for testing the pump & didn't find anything before I posted this.

Thanks for the response though.

Mike

Just called the "stealer" for the "washer kit" & they want $85 now!! Ouch! I think I'll try Phil, maybe he can do better.

I think you may be making "pump testing" too complicated, just pull the filter while the engine is running, if fluid is returning, its pumping

Please keep us posted on the results of the valve overhaul

Just because the valve lever doesn't move the suspension doesn't mean the valve is the problem. Do a search on "accumulators" and you are likely to find your problem. A wise man once told me: "replace the accumulators, it's always the accumulators". It's almost always the problem.
SEARCH, learn, know...........
