It is an exceptional 126 However, I wouldn't give $18K for it.

I would never ever bring it up into this climate, things tend to rust even in the summer. $18k does seem high but it looks like a gem SDL.

Yes, that is one exceptional example. If I was the original owner, I'd build an addition to my garage for it! It's a piece of history.

It is pretty nice, it has a lot of original parts under the hood. I bet that radiator is 1987 vintage. I guess it is pretty clean too, but mine was that clean after I detailed it. My wheel well is still cleaner and I drive mine everyday!
I would say $10k-$14k would be a fair price. For $18k you could buy a 2001 XJ8 with 60k miles on it, cars don't hold their value these days. It would have to be a weekend toy driving it everyday would be stupid. And you could never sell it because the value is only going to go down.

You slay me Randy!!! Heh.... ![]() Don't be surprised if the guy gets the 18K....look at some of the vehicles that Mr. Phillips has sold...they got some high dollars. I couldn't pay it...unless he took the last "0" off the price, but there is someone out there looking for this deal. Anyone got Jay Leno's number?

Freeman probably bought or traded it for about $5000. But, for 7-9 grand, it may be a good deal, if it is in good shape. The engine should be good for another 100,000+ miles. It's hard to find any used car under 10 grand that should last a 100,000 mi. Just my 2 cents worth.

Bah the 603 will last just as long if not longer then the 617. I have never heard of someone wearing out a properly taken care of diesel.

Having spent most of my life in the trucking industry (most of the time as a factory marketing rep.), I've seen many diesels wear out. And, something in the engine can break. But, most cars don't go the high mileage as commercial trucks, so your statment as regarding only cars is, in general, true. Just change the oil regularly - and the air filter. Have a great day.

I would venture to say 90% of MB's in junk yards are their because of:
1. rust 2. accidents 3. poor/no maintaince 10% or less probably have properly taken care of but shot engines.
