87 300D Windshield is loose!

OK, now I've seen it all.
I was cleaning the inside of my windshield the other day, and pushing on it a little, and noticed that it is loose! I can actually push out on it and it moves just a little bit all the way around. Now I know what the vibration is when hitting bumps. What's up with this? I've never had this happen before. Does it need a new seal? Nothing is rusted, or looks bad from what I can see. It appears to be original, and could be replaced since there are a couple of chips and some wear from the wiper. Should I order a new seal and then have the glass co come out and put in a new windshield?

Any thoughts?

Never heard of that!

Does the windshield say MB, or Pilkington? The later would suggest it is not original and poorly installed!

I'd go for a new one! I would doubt the glass people would credit you for it being ready to come out, but I could be wrong!

Thought mentioned somewhere that rubber should have calk installed in grooves in rubber or on flange before installation. If true and not done that is perhaps why you have movement. Another thing may be seal has shrunk a little with age. Check proper service manual or mercedes dealer. I am either right or crazy just vaguely remember something odd pertaining to mercedes glass. On second thought maybe the window is tight but the bodys loose.

According to WIS, the cheap stuff that sticks the windshield on will not work for my windshield because it is part of the structural integrety of the car. I have to use high modulus adhesive, aka big bucks stuff.

AFAIK your's doesn't 124 chasis, right
