Parting a 240D 4-speed
I'm bringing home a '79 240d tonight with hopes of getting it running and keeping the engine as a spare for my Land Rover. Besides the engine and a few ancillaries, I have no use for the rest of the car. It's got 125k on it and the body is as you'd expect being in New England. It does have a 4-speed and though I want to keep the flywheel, the tranny, pedal assm., etc. is here if anyone's doing a 4-speed swap in a 300.
I'll try to post some pictures tonight...I'm going to tow it to the shop here after work and hope to drive it home! If you're interested, drop me an email. Jim pbs@mohawk.net |
where are you located....I might be interested in the stick shift related components.....

I'm in north-western Ct.

What shape are the seats in and what colour? :)

Hey Mercedes Rover... was that your web site where you put in a 4 Cyl 240D motor?
Very cool project.. I have 2 Toyota Fj40 Land Cruisers and have collected a few parts for a 5 Cyl 300TD conversion... can I hit you with some qustions about gear ratios and tranny adpat options? Bennett |
Yup, that's me. There's actually two sites I have...One crummy freebie site that I've had for a while and I've started another.

what color is the car? I need 4 manila beige hubcaps.
|
It's dark red, but the hubcaps are still there if you need them.
|
no, i have two white ones and 2 manila beige. i'd rather paint 2 than 4 and would prefer to get the right color.

Jim, that is some really cool work, good for you! A friend of mine is rebuilding a 65 series 2. I tried to convince him he wanted a MB diesel in it, but he went for a low-miles original motor instead. Anyway, very nice documentation too.
