source? citric acid
I am planning on a coolant system flush in the near future and the recommended flushing agent is citric acid. Those that have used this, where did you find it and what was the cost? Also, how much/what concentration did you use?
Also, did you use anything else to degrease the cooling system? Thanks in advance for your help, Sam

You are a bit late.....I sold two packages of it to two fellow members. Then I bought my second benze and decided to keep the third kit for myself...You need 1 kilogram of it........which is 2.2 lbs....I flush out the antifreeze then use prestone radiator flush. THen flush that very well before doing the citiric acid......Mercedes dealer seels it but there are cheaper souces.

WalMart pharmacy ordered a pound for me at $7 a few years ago. had it in the next day. You can use liquid Tide as a degreaser. I used it and had no problems. Others suggest liquid dishwasher soap becaUSe of the possibility of too many suds. Wasn't a problem for me.
You really don't have to descale and degrease unless you have a need to. Len |
