I am pretty sure the IP kill joy is at 4,800rpm. So how did you get yours to spin that high? Maybe your tach is off? Maybe something else...

I have had my 300SD to just over 100 once before I backed down.........

I am in too much fear of Jail and losing my drivers license to find out for certain what both will do..............as much as I would love to find out.

Audi & Mercedes Diesels

I rented an Audi A4 1.8 TDI the last time I was in Europe and had it to 122 and that was all that it had. It would cruise at 105 all day. What a great car. I had my 1985 300TD to 82 on the Long Island Expressway today on my way to the Bronx Zoo (running late). The regular cruising sped on the LIE is 70.

Well, my kid got a ticket for 80 something in my '83 300D.I think I had it up to 80+ also once or twice (I kinda worry about things falling off that car at speed). Had the SDL up to somewhere over 90 a few weeks ago. No idea how fast daughter's '87 300D will go, but I bet it will beat my SDL. Wish I had someplace legal to let them out all the way. Then again, my right leg doesn't stay as stiff as it used to at speed, if ya know what I mean.

I have a pic somewhere of my SDL doing 116 or so.. The 98 E300 has been to 105 thus far.

I blessed the Audi a few weeks ago on the Atlantic City Expressway chasing down a new CLK320 at 120+mph.. Rock solid may I add! Ahh, to be young and stupid!

I had the 300D to about 90 last week (has a inaccurate 85 mph speedometer so I'm going by tachometer here), and the SD to about 80 while following my dad while he was in a hurry to get somewhere in his Caddy. I can't really get the 300D up to speed, the only deserted highway in Houston has a lot of overpasses, so I always slow down because HPD likes to sit on the other side of the hill when you're coming down the overpasses. The D also vibrates at speeds above 80, very noticable while looking out the rear view mirror. I don't take it on high speed excursions much either, I like to save my fuel with the way the price of diesel is today. I would like to find a place where I can just take it up to top speed legally.

GPS clocked at 131 mph in my wife's '02 Jetta (1.9L) TDI running 50 cetane B2 diesel with no engine mods other then CCV filter & 2 micron fuel filter.

’02 Jetta GLS, Silver Arrow Metallic, Automatic, Cold Weather Package, TDIHeater, Tinted Windows, Perfect Fit Bra, Turbo Diesel Badges, Audi TT Lift Pads, Hella E-code Headlights with fogs, Euro Switch, 5 Brake Light Mod, XM Radio, OEM Steel Skid Plate, OEM Fuel Line Shield, Intercooler Screen, Modified Screenectomy, Ventectomy, CCV Filter, Engine Cover Kit, CAT 2 Micron Fuel Filter, Mobil Delvac 1, with 48,000 trouble free miles.

An Audi A4 1.8T is a turbocharged 1.8L gasser, the diesel is the little 1.9L TDI in the Audi and it is pulling about 600 lbs more weight then my wife's Jetta.

Has anyone missed me??? Pobably not. I'm still enjoying the MB by another name (Magnum) and as the old saying goes "A rose by any other name is still a rose".
