1981 300 sd turbo diesel tranny problems

first of all let me start off by thanking all of u for your input on helping me get my car started and i runs well, but my tranny slips like hell. Anyway here is my problem when i put it into 1st it take a few seconds and it goes into gear but when i give it gas the engine revs high and it jumps into gear and barley moves it jumps into 2nd, 3rd. i have not drove it past 25mph because it just seems like the thing wont go anywhere. I love this car but like so many of you i don't have a ton of money to fix it. I bought a new filter and transmission fluid do u guys think that this would help btw i forgot to say that it has not ran in over 3 years any ideas or am i looking at a new tranny what should i do next it just seem like it has a problem going into gear and when it finally get there it just barley moves.

There are more threads on this than you could imagine, but the general accepted rule:
Check fluid level
Replace tranny fluid and filter
Add Trans-X when you add new fluid

See what happens...
