Well, this is not as serious as a newly rebuilt engine...

But just the same... with it having sat for 14 months... I would think about making sure that new oil is up to the bearings before they experience full load from running the engine...
A Pain... but I am sure you are proud of this engine and want to keep it going a Long time... so at the very least I would pull the glowplugs and turn the engine over with the starter ( keeping in mind the max duration of running the starter and the cooling periods in between ) until the pressure registered on the inside guage... then put them back and fire her up.......

and press the "stop" lever down so the IP doesn't load up the cylinders with fuel unyil you're ready for it. (something seemingly obvious that I've forgotten)

Wish I had thought of that... of course I think it was you or Brian who posted the amount of fuel per stroke the IP puts out at idle..... .009 cc's ?????
But the stop lever should be pressed.....

not in the same league, but

my boy and I just got the Jetta running again after taking the IP out due to leaking. we put it back on and couldn't get it to fire. thinking of a thousand things to go wrong, I went back to the basics. Rechecked timing to TDC, and, while standing there thinking, had "the boy" check for power on the shut off switch. sure enough, we had it switched with another wire that supposed to advance timing electrically. so...
when it started, we were happy campers.
feels good to hear any engine run after working on it. que no?
