Rearend Ratios stamped on Housings?

I'm trying to verify that the rearend in my '87 190D 2.5T is the original 2.65 ratio. I have heard that the ratio is stamped on the rearend housing somewhere. Since my rearend is kind of grimy (please save your jokes), can anybody tell me where to look on the housing?

from the rear of the car looking forward on the 7 or 8 o'clock position on the main part of the housing that sticks out past the rear cover. On the rear facing face.

there will be a part number and I think the end of the string you will see something like 3.07 or whatever the ratio is.... You will see far more than 3 digits...

2.65 it is.....

I just checked. It's actually on the "ear" located at the 4-5 o'clock position on my car, but the part number and ratio are stamped right there. Thanks for the info - I learn something new every day.

Glad you found them....on the W116 and the W123 for certain and likely the W126 they are at the 7-8 O'Clock position....I've got to remember they can be on the other side for other models too.
