Is their a way to install auto window switch's in a W126.

I don't know their proper name but the newer MB's have them. You push the switch down once and it opens the window all of the way. Insted of having to hold the stupid thing down. I love this feature on my friends car if you want all 4 windows down you just push all 4 switchs once and they go down.

The W140's have this feature could I just get a set of W140 window switches?

In those cars with that feature the window switches merely "communicate" a signal to the car computer which then activates the window motors with a relay, so "clicking" those switches tells the computer to lower the windows all the way down or up, and not clicking them it will only go for as long as you hold the switch. Our C220 diesel in germany had that feature and I liked it as well, its very handy. Also in those newer window systems is a cut out switch that senses when the window is all the way up or down and cuts the motor off instantly (probably a load-trip switch like in the antenna motors), while on our older cars it will just stall the motor as long as you hold the switch since its a direct connection....I'd say its not really possible to do that retrofit on the older ones....

How about a 10 pound block you can set on the window switch?

I know what you mean. I get home and find the back windows still down because I expected a quick firm press on the button to fully raise the window as it does in the S420.

If you need a project, come on down here and help me pull the head on the SD.

No I have a bunch of projects I need to do on my SDL, I have just had my head in the sand for the past few months. I'm taking a break later this summer I will start fixing stuff again.

I really like this feature because when I am coming down a sharp exit ramp it is kind of a pita to steer and hold down window switches. Yes I am kind of lazy it is an S class MB should have thought of this!

..........damn............when I was your age, I had to turn a crank.

You might not have ever seen a crank. It has a handle with a little plastic spinner at the end. You turn it around in a circle, and.............lo and behold..........the window rises. Then.........if you turn it in the opposite direction............the window goes down...............but, without a motor..............can you freaking believe it?

We could go to the antique car show and I'll show you one.

Actually I grew up with hand cranked windows! My mom got a brand new Olds Cutless in 1986 a year after I was born and it had hand cranked windows. She drove that car until 2000 and then we got power windows!

Hand crankers... ohhhh boy. Didnt you just love those moments when your driving alone in your car/truck, doing the super Stretch Armstrong thing, rolling down the PASSENGER window while driving. Your cursing at yourself the whole time for being so stupid for doing it.. but your cooking in your car and you need that window down.

Check if Euro 126s have this feature. Euro and Japanese cars had auto up long before it was available in the US. I know for many Japanese cars it's a matter of soldering a jumper, resistor or diode to the US-spec switch to enable auto up. I expect adding auto down to a simple rocker won't be that simple but maybe it's all in the Euro switches rather than some module.

How about getting a co-pilot?

My dad got a new Dodge the year I was born and power brakes weren't standard equipment.
